Pete is an experienced clinical psychologist with a particular focus on youth mental health, psycho-oncology and neurodiversity. At Mind Plasticity, Pete primarily works with children, adolescents and young adults, who require psychological support in relation to adjustment to a major life transition (e.g., parental separation, divorce proceedings, loss of a loved one), management of a chronic illness (e.g., cancer, chronic pain, and HIV), and difficulties associated with a neurodevelopmental condition (e.g., ASD and ADHD).
In addition to his role at Mind Plasticity, Pete currently works as a clinical psychologist in the Psycho-Oncology team at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, providing psychological support to young people and adult affected by cancer. He also holds a Cancer Survivorship Clinic Director/Senior Lecturer/Clinical Supervisor position at Australian Catholic University (Strathfield).
Prior to joining Mind Plasticity, Pete gained extensive clinical and research experiences, working at various departments within NSW Health hospitals and community settings. Such settings include Cancer Centre for Children, Child Development Unit, Developmental Disability Unit and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Canteen Australia, Michael J Cousins Pain Management and Research Centre at Royal North Shore Hospital, Kids Cancer Centre and Behavioural Sciences Unit at Sydney Children’s Hospital (Randwick) and Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Psycho-Oncology Department at Liverpool Hospital Cancer Therapy Centre.
With regards to academic qualifications, Pete holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours Class I) from The University of Queensland, a Master of Clinical Psychology from The University of Sydney and a Graduate Certificate in Autism Diagnosis from The University of Western Australia.
